Late August 2002:

[Belgium]   [Mike and Shirl hiking]

[Mike bathing]

^ Mike taking a much-needed bath in the paddock after the hike.

< Mike and I having reached the halfway point at a waterfall, in a state forest near Loch Long. Note the lily-white legs. Water was such an unusual colour, almost like a pint of guinness (not that I drink the stuff!)

Sick and tired of looking at our ugly mugs and want to read the travelogue?

[State Forest Loch Long]

.

< Mossy undergrowth which was incredibly soft, in a state forest near Loch Long. This was sighted on a short hike we did the day after leaving Glasgow. Most state parks have several different signposted trails for walkers and cyclists.

V Scene looking out onto Loch Fyne. The reflections of the hills in the still water were superb.

[Kilchurn Castle]

.

^ The fishing village of Inveraray located on Loch Fyne.

< Kilchurn castle located on Loch Awe.

V Kilchurn Castle yet again. We had to jump a fence and trudge out into very marshy ground amongst midges to take these shots.

[Roineabhal Country House B&B]

.

< Roineabhal Country House, a stunning B&B we stayed at one night. Could have handled a lot more nights there! Home was built out of large stone blocks and family is very artistic.

[Mike climbing Devil's staircase]

.

< Mike trying to catch breath while climbing Devil's Staircase in Glencoe region.

[Jane, Shirley and Mike on Devil's Staircase]
      [Climbing down Devil's Staircase]

^ Made it to the top of Devil's Staircase! Highway is a little ribbon barely visible - it's the thin grey strip going from middle left of photo into patch of pine forest.

< View as we climbed down. Note the ogre trying to hide in low heather in middle of picture.
