^^ Looking across the gardens to the Almohad Wall, which encloses the older Alcazar gardens. A great spot for viewing the internal gardens as well as the newer external ones. ^ Looking northward along the Almohad Wall toward the Alcazar palaces and water feature (shown at left). < Viewing the water spout at back of Salones de Carlos V Palace area of Alcazar. This water feature is known as Estanque de Mercurio. The pool is filled with large carp, which Hannah was fascinated by.
V The Donnelly trio in the Alcazar gardens - a rare family photo as usually one of us parents has to take the picture! |

< Wonderful entrance to the Salon de Tapices in the Salones de Carlos V Palace area of Alcazar. I also loved the herringbone pattern of the bricks. Not sure about the paint job though....
< Inside the Salon de Tapices. Lower walls are covered in stunning painted tiles.
< Outside the inner walls, we are now in the newer gardens of the Alcazar. This mainly consists of a large area of geometrically structured, boxed gardens containing conifers and rose bushes and outlined by many decorative fountains and rills, like the one at left. In distance, yet again Hannah deciding to take a dip!
< Hannah and Michael in the newer gardens of Alcazar.
V Aftering leaving Seville, we journied southwest, staying at this wonderful little resort Molinos de Santos in Grazalema National Park. VV The highest pass in Grazalema National Park. An overcast day which nevertheless added drama to the wild, rocky landscape. |

^ The Ronda escarpment. The town is located on the top of an escarpment which has sheer sides. You can just make out the clifftop footpath for sightseers.
< View looking down from left of the Puente Nuevo bridge, Ronda. River is just visible at foot of rightside cliff. Naturally there are loads of restaurants lining the cliffs near the bridge.
V View from right-hand side of Puente Nuevo bridge, Ronda. The depth of the arches takes your breath away, as does the view standing on the middle of the bridge looking out into the countryside. |

^ Ronda bullring arena. Michael was determined to see a bullring in Spain. I was happy to take Hannah elsewhere while he did it... though I must say it seems quite a beautiful building.
